Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a traditional form of oriental medicine dating back more than 4000 years. It is a comprehensive treatment, utilizing the body’s own energy called Qi. It targets underlying causes and not just the presenting symptoms, to enhance the body’s healing process, speeding up recovery time from injuries and illness. It can be effectively used as a preventative medicine and promotes health and wellbeing.
How does Acupuncture work?
Qi circulates through a system of Meridians in the body and it is this flow of energy that keeps our body functioning at all times. Whenever there is pain, illness or disease in the body it is due to a blockage or imbalance in the flow of Qi and the way it relates to our internal organ and muscular-skeletal systems.
By insertion of fine Acupuncture needles to certain points along the Meridians, the flow of Qi throughout the body can be enhanced and normal healthy functioning of the body promoted.
What can Acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture can assist in a wide range of conditions from physical, occupational, emotional and hormonal complaints to digestive and immune system disorders. It has the benefit of providing drug free pain relief and reduction of inflammation. Some examples of commonly treated complaints are:
- Acute & chronic pain, inflammation & tightness.
- Headaches, migraines, stress, anxiety, depression and insomnia.
- Female & male fertility & hormonal problems.
- Pregnancy, Pre-birthing & Postpartum care.
- I.B.S, indigestion, reflux, fluid retention, difficulty loosing weight.
- Recurrent colds & flu’s, sinusitis, hay fever.
- Tiredness, lethargy, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Many people can benefit from Acupuncture. It should be an enjoyable experience, often people fall a sleep or go into a deeply relaxed, almost meditative state.
